Marcelino García Toral

Congratulations to a centenary club

Marcelino García Toral published a message of recognition to Villarreal CF, which has turned 100 years old. "A pride and a pleasure to be part of the history of that family," he said.

Villarreal CF turned 100 on 10 March, and Marcelino wanted to share encouraging words through his Twitter and Instagram profiles. “A pride and a pleasure to be part of the history of that family,” wrote the technician. In the Castellón team, he lived his most prolonged stay as a professional coach, from January 2013 to August 2016.

It was more than three years in which Villarreal promoted to LaLiga (Marcelino’s third promotion to the top flight) qualified for the Champions League and reached the semifinals of the Europa League. He spent 177 games on the bench, 87 wins, 44 draws and 46 losses, with 268 scored goals and 181 conceded.

“An example of management and talent with special and unconditional fans,” the coach published about the yellow club. He also wanted to highlight the work of the late José Manuel Llaneza, key together with Fernando Roig in the growth of Villarreal during all these years.
