Marcelino has a clear objective for the season

At the coaches' meeting in Madrid, the Asturian made clear his roadmap for the campaign: win every game, improve in every training session and be more competitive.

‘It’s gratifying to share with colleagues and to be a united, strong, supportive union that respects and supports each other,’ explained Marcelino García Toral after the meeting with the RFEF Coaches Committee chaired by David Gutiérrez.

Almost all the coaches who are in first and second division teams this season, as well as others who coached in these categories during the previous two seasons, attended the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas on Tuesday.

Carlo Ancelotti, Diego Simeone, Manuel Pellegrini, Míchel, Rubén Baraja, Ernesto Valverde, Hansi Flick, Borja Jimenez, ‘Pacheta’, Luis García, Quique Setién, Abelardo, Rubi, Pellicer, Íñigo Pérez and Vicente Moreno were among the more than 40 coaches who attended the meeting.

After the meeting, Marcelino analysed the situation of his team and the keys that have led them to be in this situation (8 points from four games without defeat) in August before the international break.

The asturian experienced some of those matches from the stands due to suspension and spoke about the issue. ‘From up in the stands, the coach has a much better overview, but the games are more difficult in terms of tension,’ he explained.

Marcelino also made it clear what he expects from his team for the remainder of the competition.

The RFEF Coaches Committee set up a negotiating table months ago to represent and deal with matters of interest to the collective, which is made up of Xavi Hernández, Jagoba Arrasate, Paco López, ‘Pacheta’ and Quique Setién. Apart from football matters, the guild’s main concern is the process of getting paid when they are dismissed, and for this reason they want a club not to be allowed to hire a new coach until they have reached an agreement with the outgoing coach.

The coaches hope that an agreement can be reached between the RFEF, LaLiga and Liga F to ‘adapt the wording of the section on coaches in the Coordination Agreement’.
