Marcelino García Toral

“A Moment of Profound Sadness”

Marcelino García Toral expressed deep emotion following the devastating floods that shook eastern Spain.

Speaking ahead of Villarreal’s fixture against Alavés, Marcelino reflected on the tragedy that claimed over 220 lives and left many more homeless. His heartfelt remarks resonated deeply.

“We are living through a moment of great difficulty and profound sadness,” he said. “So many lives were lost, families shattered, and homes destroyed. At the same time, indignation rises because authorities failed to take sufficient action to prevent and mitigate this disaster.”

He praised Villarreal’s humanitarian response, which included financial support for victims, and shared personal insights about coping with grief.

“Life must go on, and focusing on work is often the best way to honour those lost,” he said.
