Marcelino García Toral

A bike route with ESPN

Marcelino toured with the most important television channel in America several of the most beautiful places in Vizcaya

Marcelino García Toral was the star of a new edition of ‘Diarios de Bicicleta’, an ESPN program hosted by the well-known Argentine journalist –and a resident of Spain– Martín Ainstein. The content revolved around a bike ride – with the appropriate clothing by the Asturian coach – around the Athletic city of Lezama; An area that has landscapes of great natural beauty, and very close to there they went to ‘Vivero’, from where you can enjoy spectacular views of Bilbao.

Marcelino’s journey with Ainstein took place after the ‘rojiblanco’ team’s training. During the walk there was time to talk about different issues, such as the similarities between cycling and football, which the coach placed in qualities such as “sacrifice, effort, ambition, hope”. He also noted that getting on the bike allows him to disconnect from his daily work. He usually makes routes with the components of the coaching staff in which it is “forbidden” to talk about football.

Pau Gasol (on the occasion of the last duel between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid at the Camp Nou), Santiago Cañizares and Xabi Alonso have been other recent protagonists of ‘Diarios de Bicicleta’. A production that has the quality seal printed by ESPN -which broadcasts ‘La Liga’ in the United States, Mexico and other Latin American countries -.
